Birds tell us about the health of our communities. Ultimately, what happens to birds happens to us. They reflect the health and trends of the land, air, and water upon which we humans also depend.
Recognizing Important Bird Areas (ESHB2560), better known to legislators as the “bird bill”, allows the Washington Dept of Natural Resources (DNR) to work with Audubon to officially recognize Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Washington.
Each year in late December, more than 50,000 birders across North America participate in Audubon’s annual Christmas Bird Count, the world’s longest-running database in ornithology.
