Policy Priorities

Audubon Washington takes a pragmatic approach. While we work diligently to pass legislation, and negotiate regulations and guidelines, we never forget it is money that makes things happen. This is why the Audubon Washington policy team also works to obtain state financing for habitat conservation. Most recently we successfully advocated for:

  • $100 million to develop parks and conserve habitat.
  • $500,000 to negotiate wind power guidelines while conserving bird and bat habitat.
  • $400,000 to conserve urban forests through the Evergreen Communities Act of 2008.
  • $100,000 to identify and conserve critical habitat on state lands.
