Responsibilities

Audubon Washington’s board of stewards is charged with specific responsibilities:

  • Help Audubon Washington carry out its mission in Washington state
  • Ensure that state office positions and priorities are based on best available science and are aligned with the priorities of the National Audubon Society and the common interests of local Audubon chapters
  • Keep the state office staff workload strategically focused, manageable, and reasonable
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with local Audubon chapters and provide support for building and maintaining the capacity of chapters to implement the Audubon mission
  • Provide the support, connections, and assistance needed by the state office to raise sufficient funding to meet its annual budget and capital campaign goals
  • Ensure that the state office financial planning and management are sound and the budget of the state office is sufficient to cover program and capital needs
  • Ensure that the state office executive director’s performance is satisfactory.
