HABITAT:
295-acre WDFW site w/ sloughs, seasonal ponds, wetlands, and corn fields.
BIRDING:
Watch for migrating Swainson’s Thrushes, Bullock’s Orioles, and Wood Ducks. From November to March, Northern Pintails, American Wigeons, and Trumpeter and Tundra Swans are present. All three seasons offer fine views of raptors, especially Bald Eagles and Red-tailed Hawks.
VIEWING:
Best swan sightings are at dusk, when birds feed in fields and roost in sloughs. During hunting season, birders are restricted to central parking area.
ACCESS:
From Hwy 20 at milepost 64.8 in Sedro-Woolley, turn south onto Hwy 9. Drive 2.5 miles to Clear Lake. Turn right (west) onto Francis Rd. Drive 0.7 mile to WDFW entrance. Turn right (north) onto Debay’s Isle Rd. Drive 0.2 mile to central parking area. If gate is closed, park outside and walk into reserve.
