HABITAT: 93-acre county park along Skagit River w/ maples and cottonwoods, small meadow and fir-covered hillsides.
BIRDING: Watch for warblers and flycatchers in spring and summer, and Bald Eagles in winter. Common species include Osprey, American Dipper, Belted Kingfisher, Glaucous-winged Gull, Common Merganser, Common and Barrow’s Goldeneye, and Violet-green Swallow. Also look for Steller’s Jays, Red-breasted Sapsuckers, Red-tailed Hawks, Rufous Hummingbirds, Common Yellowthroats, and Song and White-crowned Sparrows.
VIEWING: Take meadow trail to see songbirds. From southwest end of campground, trail winds west to meet railroad grade, passes by wetland north of meadow, and loops back to campground. Migrating salmon can be seen in river October-December.
ACCESS: From Hwy 20 at milepost 97.6, in town of Rockport, turn south onto Hwy 530 for 0.2 mile. Turn right (west) into park entrance.
