HABITAT: 1,000-acre shoreline of Skagit River w/ towering cottonwoods and Douglas-firs
BIRDING: Thanks to strong runs of chinook and coho salmon, this area hosts one of the five largest wintering aggregations of Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states.
VIEWING: Roadside turnout offers good views of river. Eagles perch in trees and eat salmon carcasses on gravel bars. Shore is closed to foot traffic to avoid disturbing birds. Eagle Festival the first weekend in February highlights Skagit ecology.
