HABITAT:
USFS campground in coniferous forest beside Early Winters Creek.
BIRDING: Over 30 species include Calliope Hummingbird, Townsend’s and MacGillivray’s Warbler, Swainson’s Thrush, Cassin’s Vireo, Dusky and Hammond’s Flycatcher, Vaux’s Swift, Blue Grouse, and the occasional Williamson’s Sapsucker.
VIEWING:
Take shady Creekside Trail or open Scenic Trail, both 0.25 mile in length; or 4-mile Butte Trail, which is exposed and hot during summer.
ACCESS:
From Hwy 20 at milepost 175, turn east. Drive 1.2 miles to campground. Park at Butte Trailhead.
