| HABITAT: | WDFW 30-acre pond amid 100 acres of coniferous forest/riparian area. |
| BIRDING: | Excellent spring and summer birding includes Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Dusky Flycatchers, Vesper Sparrows, and Red-naped Sapsuckers; Wilson’s, Yellow, Yellow-rumped, and Townsend’s Warblers. American Kestrels and Golden Eagles can be seen in fall, as can migrating ducks. |
VIEWING: |
Check lakeside alders and willows for warblers, and cattails for blackbirds. In spring and early summer, look for Ruddy Ducks on pond. |

From Highway 20 at stop sign in downtown Winthrop, continue straight (north) onto Riverside Ave/Bluff St/East Chewuch Rd. Drive 1.5 miles. Turn right (east) onto Bear Creek Rd. Drive 1.6 miles. Continue straight (north) onto unmarked dirt road. Drive 0.1 mile. Turn left (northwest) onto road 100. Drive 2 miles to parking area. |
