Cassimer Bar Wildlife Area

HABITAT:
Confluence of the Okanogan and Columbia Rivers. Freshwater wetlands, owned by Public Utility District #1 of Douglas County.
BIRDING: Bar offers great birding all year, though best in spring and summer. Typical species include Osprey, American White Pelican, Double-crested Cormorant, Spotted Sandpiper, Turkey Vulture, Northern Harrier, Western Tanager, Western Wood-Pewee, Willow Flycatcher, Wilson’s Warbler, Black-headed Grosbeak, and Ring-necked Pheasant.
VIEWING:
Walk through stile, then on old dike road through shady groves. Scan ponds and surrounding cattail marsh. Take path to sandy shore of Okanogan and view of Columbia River.
ACCESS:
From Hwy 97 at milepost 264.6, turn south onto Cassimer Bar Access Rd. Drive 0.4 mile. Turn right (west) onto Cassimer Bar Rd. Drive 0.5 mile to parking area.
