| BIRDING: | Spring and summer species include Calliope Hummingbird, Hammond’s Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, Veery, Yellow-rumped and MacGillivray’s Warbler, Western Tanager, Swainson’s Thrush, Common Nighthawk, Barrow’s Goldeneye, and Harlequin Duck. In fall, watch for resident Blue Grouse, Pileated Woodpeckers, and Dark-eyed Juncos. |

Use National Park shuttle bus to travel between birding sites—e.g., 1.3-mile trail from High Bridge to Coon Lake; 4-mile Stehekin River Trail; 4.4-mile Rainbow Loop Trail; and 3-mile Bullion Loop Trail. |
ACCESS: |
Area can be reached only by boat or floatplane. From Hwy 97 at milepost 233, turn north into Lake Chelan Boat Company. Chelan Airways and Lake Chelan passenger ferry both leave from here. Park in fee lot. Boat trip to Stehekin takes 2 to 3.5 hours; flight is 15 to 30 minutes. |
