HABITAT:
10 acres of rock outcroppings, sagebrush and ponderosa pine.
BIRDING: Residents include Canyon Wrens, Steller’s Jays, Black-billed Magpies, and California Quail. Watch cliffs for Bald and Golden Eagles, and Clark’s Nutcrackers. Migrating species include Western Tanager, Bullock’s Oriole, Lewis’s Woodpecker, Spotted Towhee, and Yellow-rumped Warbler. Mountain Chickadees, Say’s Phoebes, White-crowned Sparrows, Western Kingbirds and Pine Siskins may also be present.
VIEWING:
Site offers forest fire interpretive trails and level gravel paths. Best birding is on spring mornings. Avoid summer mid-day heat.
ACCESS:
From Hwy 97A at milepost 217, turn west into parking area.
